📢 Community Poll: Christadelphian Building on Pillory Green

Many of you will know that the Christadelphian building on Pillory Green is up for sale at auction on 18th September.
NPC was given no prior notice or first refusal, and the timing has limited opportunities for proper consultation. The guide price of £60–80k is substantial, and essential improvements would likely add further costs. Importantly, NPC does not have reserves to fund a project of this value, so any purchase and future investment would most likely impact the parish precept.
That said, there may be value in securing the building as a community asset.
It has been brought to NPC’s attention that changing the use of the building to a private/commercial use would be difficult for any new owner, due to the lack of an easement/parking and the protected status of Pillory Green.
👉 The key question: Should NPC pursue purchasing the building as a community asset?
⚠️ Important: Any such project would need a dedicated working party of volunteers to organise, manage, and maintain the building (similar to Napton Village Hall or Napton Sports Association). Without committed parishioner involvement, it would not be feasible.

Improving Mobile Coverage in Napton – Resident Feedback Requested

Napton currently experiences poor mobile phone coverage, affecting both residents and visitors. This situation is likely to worsen as emergency services transition from their existing private network to EE, which already has limited signal strength in our area.

To help address this issue, Atlas Tower Group has approached Napton Parish Council with a proposal to work together to improve mobile coverage in the village—at no cost to parishioners.

Atlas is considering several potential locations for a new mobile mast. However, before contacting landowners, the Parish Council would like to gauge local opinion. We invite residents to complete a short survey prepared by Atlas:

This is an opportunity to provide honest, early feedback on the proposal. If the majority of responses are supportive, the Parish Council will work with Atlas to explore the project further. Once a suitable location is identified, full details and visual materials will be shared before any planning application is submitted.

If you require a paper copy of the survey, please contact the Parish Clerk.

Thank you for helping shape the future of mobile connectivity in Napton.
